Testimonials sent to us by customers by email after collecting their order.
Manufacturers quoted a VHS lifespan of 15–20 years. Today we are often well past 30. The binder absorbs moisture, the oxide layer flakes away and the picture slowly disappears. The only way to stop it is to move the footage to digital.
Moisture lifts the iron oxide away, colours fade and the picture turns to static. Time destroys magnetic tape for good.
VHS players are no longer made and working Sony camcorders are a rarity. Without professional equipment you simply cannot play the tape.
If a tape has been sitting in a cellar, mould can form on it. That ruins not only the tape but also the player you put it into.
A full guide drawn from practice – why tapes degrade, how much fits on a USB drive and how to tell the formats apart.
No. You only pay for the actual footage on your tapes.
If there are two hours of static at the end of a tape, or a film taped off the television, we do not count that time and we cut it out.
The minimum order value is 300 CZK, because every tape needs the same care and the same setup on the equipment.
As standard we convert to MP4 (H.264). This plays on a computer, a smart TV, a phone and a tablet.
If you need a different format, just let us know.
For orders of up to 5 tapes, usually within 7 working days from handover.
For larger orders the turnaround depends on how busy we are, but it is always agreed in advance and written on your handover receipt.
If you are in a hurry, express processing is available for a 50 % surcharge.
No. You pay for the work only once it is finished and you have checked the result yourself.
Collecting in person, you can pay by card, in cash or by QR code. For postal orders, by bank transfer or cash on delivery.
For VHS we use top-end Panasonic NV-HS1000 video recorders with TBC (Time Base Correction), which stabilises the picture.
The analogue signal is digitised through a professional Canopus ADVC 300converter, also with TBC. That is what keeps the picture clean and the sound perfectly in sync.
For handover in person, visit us at our premises at Přímětická 10, Prague 4 – Krč, by prior arrangement.
If you live outside Prague, you can send the tapes safely by post. We agree the details with you before you send anything.
Do not throw it away. We also splice snapped tape and clean mould off properly.
An important warning: never repair snapped tape with sticky tape. The adhesive spreads inside the mechanism and can destroy both the cassette and the player.
Absolutely. Only one person ever sees the content of your tapes, and only to check quality and to edit.
We never pass data to third parties. A backup copy is kept for 12 months in case you lose the USB drive, and is then permanently deleted.
Of course. Digitising simply means playing the tape back. Your original tapes come back to you as they were.
Because the equipment is professional, the risk of any damage during the process is minimal.
